Why sell at Amazon?
If you've decided to take your online business to the next level, selling on Amazon is a great place to start. Amazon offers a fast, easy, and user-friendly interfacethat simply requires following a few steps, which you'll find outlined in this article.
As the fastest-growing channel, Amazon allows sellers to reach millions of potential customers worldwide. In fact, half of all units sold on Amazon come from independent sellers, specifically small and medium-sized businesses.
What is important to know before selling at Amazon?
1 Choose your personalized plan
First, before creating an account, you need to decide which plan best suits your online business. Keep in mind that regardless of the plan you choose, you can change it at any time. To sell on Amazon, the platform offers two plans: Individual or Professional. For both plans, Amazon charges an additional referral fee on top of the total transaction for each sale, which depends on the product category.
But what are the differences?
- Individual: Each time you sell a product, you have to pay €0.95. This plan is suitable if you don't yet know what you're going to sell and don't need advanced options.
- Professional: This plan costs €37 per month regardless of the number of products you sell. It provides access to APIs and other sales reports, as well as programs like Launchpad and Handmade. You can also run advertising campaigns for your products, provided you have a Buy Box.
2 Prepare your strategy
When developing your strategy, you can follow different methods depending on your brand's objectives. On the one hand, identify whether your goal is to sell existing products. Or, on the other hand, there's the option of selling products under your own brand, for which you'll find several resources to help you prepare your plan.
3 Register
Once you're clear on that, it's time to access your customer account, if you already have one, or, if you don't yet have one, create a new seller account using your business email address. To complete the registration, you'll need to provide your business information, such as: business email address, phone number, credit card details for international payments, valid ID or passport, and company registration details, such as your VAT number.
4 Calculate expenses
During the first three months, Amazon makes five sales programs available to new sellers under Launch Perfect.: Brand Registry, A+ Content, Fulfillment by Amazon, Automatic Price Setup, and Advertising
This feature can help you sell on Amazon: boost your brand and increase sales to get off to a successful start. Also, depending on the sales plan you choose and the products you sell, keep in mind that different fees apply: subscription, selling, and shipping fees, as well as Amazon's fulfillment fees.

Now how do I start selling?
To sell on the Amazon platform, you first need to access your Seller Central account. There you can manage your account and all the options it offers: from creating product listings and adding information, to tracking inventory and daily sales, updating inventory, monitoring metrics, managing payments, and downloading reports, among other things.
In addition, the Amazon Seller app allows you to keep a more controlled record on your mobile device. It includes features such as managing orders, responding to customer reviews, editing photos, and creating listings, among others. This way, you can carry out the steps we mention below.
Prepare a product list
The next step to start selling on Amazon is to create a product listing. If other accounts are already selling the same product, you can link their listings . However, if you're the first seller of the product, you can create a listing from scratch.
Add information: product detail page
When consumers search for product information, they access product detail pages. This option provides a better user experience and, in turn, can help you build brand awareness and increase sales.
What will you need to do in this step? Add product titles, images, a list of features to describe them (material, weight, size, etc.), as well as the price, the number of items available, and shipping options. Don't forget to add keywords to help your product rank higher and be found by users sooner.
Important note: If you sell your products under a registered trademark and want greater control over those pages, you can register for Amazon Brand Registry and enjoy its benefits.
Start attracting your target audience
Once everything is ready, it's time to start attracting your customers. The three main points that can improve the shopping experience range from providing fast delivery, thanks to Amazon Fulfillment, to gaining visibility and setting competitive prices in the market.
Drive your sales at the Marketplace
Once all these steps have led you to your first sale, how can you maintain and continue growing your business? By tracking metrics and reviewing customer feedback, you can refine your plan, better understand your audience through feedback, and continue leveraging Amazon's features and benefits.
